I am currently researching for inspiration, tips and tricks for getting out on trail crews with my 5 & 4 yr olds, with thoughts of starting up a family club in my area for volunteer work with different organizations or agencies. I have lots of trail work under my belt and have been itching to get back to it now that the kids are getting bigger. Long term goal will be to get them out for a week with me on a backpacking crew! One step at a time, right? It was wonderful to read your journey of exploring trails with and encouraging your kids’ natural curiosity and interest. I love that these experiences are part of their childhood and their hard work contributed to the creation of a family trail. Thanks for sharing this!

I never thought of trails as being something that someone made on purpose. Now I’m inspired to give it a try! Do you have any advice on ticks? I’m semi-afraid of going into dense woods because we always come out covered in ticks.
